Hire a paid advertising specialist

The discipline where money leaves your account fastest, and where the gap between a good operator and a bad one is measured in weeks rather than quarters.

When you should not hire this yet

Paid advertising buys attention; it does not fix what happens after the click. If your landing page converts poorly, your offer is unclear, or you cannot yet say what a customer is worth to you, ads will spend faster and teach you less than a conversion or analytics engagement would. Spending on traffic before you can measure it is the most common way a first marketing budget disappears. Start with Analytics & CRO instead, and come back when you know your numbers.

Judging a hire

What good looks like here

Specific to this discipline, because the signals that separate a strong hire from an expensive one do not carry across from one area of marketing to another.

They ask what a customer is worth before they ask for a budget

A specialist who takes a monthly figure without asking about margin, repeat rate or sales-cycle length is optimising for the metric the ad platform reports, not the one your business runs on. The question you want in the first conversation is some version of "what happens after the lead arrives".

They can say what they would turn off

Most inherited accounts are carrying spend that cannot be justified. Someone who only talks about what they would add, and never about what they would stop, has not read the account.

They separate the platform’s numbers from yours

Ad platforms attribute generously to themselves. A specialist worth hiring will tell you where their reported figures and your revenue figures will disagree, and why, before you notice it yourself.

Briefing it

What to put in the brief

You do not have to write this in marketing language — describe it plainly and the AI drafts a structured brief you can edit. But matching is only as good as what it is given, and these are the details that change which specialists come back.

  • What you sell, and what one customer is worth over their lifetime
  • Current monthly ad spend, or the budget you are considering
  • Which platforms are already running, and who has access
  • Whether conversion tracking exists and whether you trust it
  • The geography and language you sell into

Published paid advertising profiles

Profiles appear here only where the specialist has completed verification and opted in to publishing. Placement cannot be purchased.

No published profiles in this discipline yet. Specialists are verified before they can publish, and publishing is theirs to opt into — so this list fills up as verification completes rather than on launch day.

Questions

Hiring for paid advertising

Does my ad budget go through AdSTARS Connect?
No. You pay the advertising platforms directly, from your own accounts, and you keep ownership of those accounts. What runs through the platform is the specialist’s fee, held in milestone escrow until you approve the work.
Can a specialist prove the results they claim?
At the highest verification level, a published result is read from the specialist’s connected advertising account, reviewed by AdSTARS against the claim, and published only with the consenting client’s permission — which that client can withdraw at any time. Lower levels are labelled as what they are, including self-reported.
How quickly should I expect results?
Anyone who answers that from a brief alone is guessing. What a good specialist will commit to early is a measurement setup and a first structured test, which is the thing that makes the later answer knowable.
  1. 1AdSTARS Connect introduces businesses to independent specialists and administers the engagement. It is not a party to the contract between them and does not perform the contracted work.
  2. 2Past performance is not a guarantee of future results.
